    I can't make myself eat anything for 2-3 hours before a race. I have some bad experiences with the mid-run runs that I don't want to relive.

    so you could still eat it 2 hours before. It's the gels that have to be eaten close to race time.

    i like the clif bars. i just started eating them, and they are really good.
    Powerbars are ok. I think i ate them so much on meet days, that i got sick of them. Clif bars have better flavor, and actually taste like something.

    i eat like an hour before a race. i would rather get a cramp from eating right before a race than get a cramp from not eating at all

    i eat like an hour before a race. i would rather get a cramp from eating right before a race than get a cramp from not eating at all
    I'd rather get a cramp from not eating than shit myself at the finish line. I run on an empty stomach quite a bit (most of my runs are done in the morning right after waking up) and I've never experienced cramps from not eating.
