    Sprint Tri Empty Sprint Tri

Post by xotrackkgirl Mon Jun 23, 2008 10:09 pm

I heard about a triathalon which is shortened and is done at a faster pace.

The Sprint Triathalon- (note: they usually have a range of ditances )1/2 mile swim, 15+ mile bike ride, 3+ mile run.

I think it sounds really fun, but I was wondering if it would mess up training for xc/track. I think I have a month in between. Do you think I should train for it? Also, has anyone ever done this before?

I was gonna ask if anyone was doing one of those too. You read my mind.

    I'm doing one in August.
    A 500 meter swim
    A 10 mile bike bike
    A 3.1 mile run

    I'm excited. razz

A really slow guy on my team did a sprint triathlon, and he ended up getting much faster as a result. I'm not sure if it was getting more muscle mass in areas abandoned by just running, or being able to cross train, but he dropped a minute off of his pace.

The triathlon probably would help you with speed.

I think that would be a really cool thing to do. I should probably get swimming or something... maybe I should do one before summer is over?? my pool isn't exactly training material though xP
