So it turns out my coach has placed me in the 1200 meter portion of the distnace medley relay. this is the only meet all year we run this and our team actually has a decent chance at the school record. my question is, how would i attack this race. i was thinking opening in a 2:20 and just see what happens from there?

Re: the 1200 meter
Run it the same as a 1600, except each quarter is 300m. If that makes sense?

Re: the 1200 meter
yeah i think 2:20 or maybe a couple of seconds slower sounds good for the first 800. i like the 1200, have fun!

Re: the 1200 meter
During the distance medley last year I told the 1200 to go out in a 800 pace with out the final kick (cause you'll need that energy for the last lap)

Re: the 1200 meter
2:20 is gonna lead you to a seriously shitty time. you should try going out in at least 2:05-2:10 and then then throwing it down the last lap
shoot for 3:10-3:15ish depending on your fitness

Re: the 1200 meter
well his 800 pr is 2:13 so i doubt he would be able to run a 2:05 800 and then one more lap.Phuckduck wrote:2:20 is gonna lead you to a seriously shitty time. you should try going out in at least 2:05-2:10 and then then throwing it down the last lap
