Well, today I realized how mental running is. I didnt want any of my repeats over a certain time and I just kept telling myself how mad and miserable I would be if I didnt make the time. And i kept saying to myself how the road is a piece of crap that people just walk all over and I am going to run the crap out of it, lol. It worked!

Re: What do you tell yourself?
haha i just do that all the time.njrunner14 wrote:Yeah during races I'll only think in my head, but sometimes on my long runs when I'm all by myself, I'll think about things and if I remember anything embarassing or stupid I did, I'll actually say out loud, "you fucking idiot." Haha I don't know.
i've never actually heard someone say "fuck fuck fuck fuck" (or something like that ) before, but now i really really want to.
i do remember though when i was in a coed race and these two guys were talking to each other. their conversation=
guy 1: you're so slow today
guy 2: that's because i did your mom last night

Re: What do you tell yourself?
I just remember who I am running for.
But our coach used to always have us say We love hills! during hill runs.

Re: What do you tell yourself?
Are you suppose to say these out loud?? I don't want to freak out my running partner when I start saying "fuck shit up" a million times.

Re: What do you tell yourself?
I think about this guy who abused me and how he is the road and I am going to walk all over him! Or my little sister on purpose will tell me I will never amount to anything and that I suck at running and I'll never make it to states to beat those Tatnall girls, and that encourages me alot.
