Okay, never thought I'd be posting this, but I need some help getting back into running. Ever since my stupid knee injury back in November, it has just been one thing after another keeping me from running consistently, mostly illness. How do I get back into it? Both building endurance and mentally?

Re: Getting back into it...
over the summer i broke my ankle when i was training for xc and my goal going into the season was to make varsity but once that happened i was sure that it was all over for me. After 8 weeks in a cast and on crutches i could finally run i was really excited until i went for my first run and i could only last 5 mins. But by the end of the season i made varsity but i didn't make it to states cus i came down with mono. I'll say that you should start setting goals and trying to work hard to accomplish them and also look at your teammates for help

chsrunner - welcome to RT.
TRI - Sounds like you'be been out of it too long it just feels akward to start back in the loop again. My advice is to run everyday, no matter what illness or excuse gets in your way.

Re: Getting back into it...
Try to figure out a goal to work towards. Every time you consider not running, think about whether or not you're helping yourself reach that goal, or just making the goal harder to achieve.
I know pretty soon that my coach is going to make me do that because I've been constantly making up reasons as to why I don't want to go on long runs. Last winter I had a TON of motivation... when I didn't meet the goals I worked my butt of in the summer to make sure I'd make xc state, and once I did that, I didn't have anymore goals. Now I'm kinda just running every so often without a reason.
So, make a goal, a deadline, and stick with it!

Thats how I am right now. Partially busy partially I make excuses for myself, I know i'm going to regret it come track time.
You just really have to push yourself, hurdle gurl pretty much summed it up.
