I have been looking at my times that I have gotten from the '08 track season and the '08 xc season to try to figure out why my times go up and down as much as they do. This is what I found.
I'm not saying any of this stuff really effects me I just found it interesting.

    Length of my hair:

XC: My top 3 races all happend within 2 weeks of getting my hair cut. I got my hair cut twice this season. The longest my hair was all season was districts and that was also my worse race.

Track: I started the season with basically no hair (swimming) and my season started great. I leveled out in the middle of the season and then judging by photos cut my hair and got two prs within the next 2 weeks.

    New Shoes:

XC- Over then summer I ran a 9 mile run on a mountain (xc camp) in under a hour. This was the first time I ran in those shoes (stupid idea but it made me run fast).
XC2- First time I wore my new spikes I ran a grass pr.

Track- I didn't get any new shoes during the season. I used my old xc spikes for track. My training shoes already had a few runs in them before the season started but they were run that all I was doing was testing out my injuried leg so they weren't fast.

I have a few more but I have to go.

I had the same thing happen to me with the hair. The two races after I got my hair cut were my two fastest.

Think of how much faster she'd be without 10 lbs of hair?

It's not 10 pounds, especially the parts she's be cutting off.

I think the biggest thing about it is the mental aspect. When your hair is long there hasn't been a change in a while but after it's been cut you feel faster.

ever since I've started running I've had somewhat long hair...maybe if I grow it out more and train with it a few years and cut it off I'll be light as a feather!
