Yes, but it was so big and costly to produce it never could have been a viable weapon in war, except perhaps as a complete last ditch effort. It was more of a psycological weapon than anything else, a perfect example of one-up-manship.

You would only need to drop one. That being said, there is still the principal of M.A.D so that is why you won't ever see a nuke dropped unless their back is against the wall.

Re: Tsar Bomb (biggest bomb ever)
I was reading about a different kind of bomb the other day and it scares me more than that thing. It is designed to mess up all electronical things in its range. This mean if dropped over us we couldn't do anything to protect are selfs from the tons of bombs that would come after that first one. Cell phones, computers, tv, cars, everything wouldn't work. I'll try to find out more about it.

Re: Tsar Bomb (biggest bomb ever)
Those size comparisons aren't actually real. As in, those aren't how big the explosions are, it's just showing how explosive the blast was. Just because that bomb was a lot more explosive than the Hiroshima one, doesn't mean it was literally that much bigger.
The radius of complete destruction from that bomb is 13kms, the radius of the Hiroshima's is 1.6km. So sure, it's a hell of a lot bigger (like 7 or 8 times bigger) than the Hiroshima one. But it doesn't make Hiroshima microscopic, like that graph shows. Very misleading, eh?
