Re: Accents
I asked my German friend if I had an accent..she said no?? But then again she thought that she sounded just like us when in reality she has a really bad accent. hah
But in America like rws said somewhere.. only wi/nd/mn area, boston/ny/nj area, southerners have accents. West coast people pretty much sound normal, except Cali they just sound stupid. haha
I think aussie people have the best accent, french is a close second.

Re: Accents
Cheers Greg. Well in NZ our accent is kind of similar to the Australian one, to someone not from NZ/Aus.
Most NZers say 'i' and 'e' the same (well it's we say e's as i's). Like pen and pin sound kind of the same. Economics is said like iconomics, entertainment as intertainment... That's the typical thing most say about our accent. Also, our whole country pretty much has the same accent, seeing as we're only 4 million people.
Oh, and no matter where you are in America, you have an accent. They are actually very strong haha. I don't think there is a 'normal'.

Re: Accents
The point of having an accent is that you dont know you have one. Does that make sense?

Re: Accents
I have a little bit of a mix of accents. A fair bit of Croat and a lot of Boston.
I don't like it. I've been working forever to get rid of it but it still comes out a lot when I'm not paying attention. I don't like when people can't understand me.
Edit: Like, I say "cah" instead of "car" and my o's come out more like aw (it's a longer, deeper type of sound). When I do say r's I roll them just a tiny bit. But only when I'm not paying attention. Mostly I feel like it isn't so bad unless people point it out!

Re: Accents
I know that, I thought you didn't know that because there's no way everyone in New York state besides NYC has the same accent, it just doesn't work out geographically.baby got track wrote:upstate= all of new york except for manhattan, etc.FinishingKick wrote:Define "upstate," it's bigger than you think.baby got track wrote:^^FK you're from upstate right... then you probably do have a little bit of an accent
