    Grrr... Empty Grrr...

Post by Tri Babe 518 Wed Oct 22, 2008 11:07 pm

Wow, I seem to be making a bunch of posts about coaches lately.

    Well, anyways...
So today at practice I was definitely not really there mentally. I wanted to go home and sleep. The run was supposed to be an EASY 4.5 miles with a SLIGHT PICKUP IN PACE at the end. However, when explaining to the soccer girls who's first week at practice is THIS WEEK, she said, "Okay, we're going to do a tempo run." Every sensible runner knows that TEMPO RUN and EASY RUN are not the same things. The assistant coach, who was talking to the guys (somehow when more people come, the head coach tries to be all personal and sentimental with the runners for the first time to make it seem like she actually cares by segregating boys and girls) told them to do an EASY run, so that's what they did.

Not mentall ybeing there, I was totally not wanting to do the workout with these clowns who just decided to show up this week. Plus I tore something in my knee yesterday and it's KILLING me. So I told the head coach this, and she said "You just need to push through the pain. This is one of those things that will resolve themselves." So I did the workout and had to stop because my knee was hurting so bad, which made me fall behind from the group. When the coach was out running, she found me, and got all pissed off and proceeding to make me run faster to catch up with the group. THis, in turn, made me mad, therefore I had an asthma attack like twice.

So we eventually finished the workout and my knee felt a whole lot worse than when we started. Dumbass coach. Plus she told me that "maybe you only need to do one swim practice a week until state". BULLSHIT. To hell with that. I love swimming.

Ugh, I'm so mad and I can hardly walk because she told me to "run through the pain" even though I knew better. What do I do about my knee? Regionals are in 2 weeks!

+1, eat like ten pounds of it and youll be better in no time.

But if you actually tore something, you definitely should not be running. Your coach is an idiot. Definitely take some time off.

Do you have a trainer at your school? Go to them. The coach can't make you run if your trainer says you can't, pretty sure that's a rule, atleast in Ohio.

Yeah, if you tore something, you shouldn't be running, definately. As the others said, RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation)

As to what she said about swimming, I agree with her. You made a commitment to the team, it was fine in the normal season, but now it really counts. Honor your commitment.

This is such bullshit. Our #2 girl runner said her legs were "tight" at the beginning of practice (solved by stretching) and so the dumbass coach told her to go see the trainer. So she got to skip the practice and run like 2 miles easy.
But NOOOO, just because I'm the #7 runner, I'm not allowed to skip practice, even though something was obviously wrong with my knee. She MADE me run and told me it would "resolve itself". This is total bullshit. Just because I'm not #2 on the team doesn't mean I should just go out and hurt myself.
