I workout a lot in the off season. During the season I tone it down. It's better to do endurance lifting of more reps less weight if you're looking to use it to improve. Hard lifting isn't bad, but if you continuously do it, it can hurt your season and running a lot.

i workout every night from 9 to 10
i dont do any hard core lifting, its more like core for 1 hr
i start off with 50 fifteen pound curls both arms
    rest 2 min
    then 25 more
after that i use one of those bench bar (bout 40 pounds) and i like lift it with my arms extended out while on my back
so it looks like im bench pressing and i lift my legs (closed togther) and touch the ends of the bars
i do 50 reps of these (2 touches in 1 rep)
    2 min rest
    classic cruches 100reps
    2 min
    plank 3 minutes
    30 sec
    side ways plank 3 minutes
    30 sec
the other side plan 3 minutes
    2 min
    siccors 30 rep
    2 min
30 push ups followed right away with 20 bench presses of 40 pounds (just the bar lol)
    2 min
30 push up and 20 bench again
    2 min
tricept workout its hard to explain
i finish the workout with stretching

I do it alot in the off season, but only like 3 sets of 13-16 (so like endurance lifting) I just got back from the gym actually, but I maybe lift once or twice a month during season.

I do really really light endurance lifting once in a while (maybe once a week?), I'll just take super light weights like 5 pounds and do 100 bicep curls, and then a bunch of shoulder stuff (don't remember the names of them). I do core every day, except two days prior to a race.

It helps you not get injured =/ (at the least)

If you do it once or twice a week it isnt going to hurt you (depends on ... stuff. though) hah

Yea, the reason why I have patella tendonitis is that my quads were not strong enough and once they get weak enough from the load of practice the pressure goes all to the knees and that's what fucked it up. Now I have to do twice a week straight quad workouts.

I lift year round, 2-3 days a week DURING season, and then 3-4 days a week during the off-season.
Usually just the regular core stuff like bench, squats, and power cleans...then if we have time we do the extra things that other people have mentioned.
