    ok rant ahead.

So I pretty much worked my ass off over the summer and now into the season it seems like something bad happens every single week. First I was sick, which lost like 2 weeks of training. Then I went out of town. That's another 5 days. And now I hurt my back and my hip in the obstacle course thing and I haven't run for almost 9 days.

You know what? I don't even like cross country. My coach is a bitch, I suck, and my team is no fun at all.

I LOVE triathlon and hate cross. I can't wait until triathlon season.

I don't even think cross is my thing. I have enormous amounts of endurance but no speed whatsoever. I try so hard and get nowhere.

I so can't wait until triathlon season. Neutral

if you had enourmous amounts of endurance, you can have a lot of success in XC. 5k is way more aerobic than anaerobic.

    aww, its okay XC_Love.
calm down. you've had a lot of bad things happen and got swiped right off your feet and down into the dumps.

right now, your probably just thinking you don't even like cross because your frustraited, angry, and dissapointed with whats going on right now. if you were having a better season you would like it.
    don't give up!
if you can steadily and correctly get yourself back on your feet with the right kind of (i'm assuming after being injured) rest and low intensity training...you can find deep inside yourself, that your name XC_Love still applies to you.

and, you can love Cross and triathlon at the same time.

keep your chin up, do what you need to do to heal up quickly.

I hope everything turns out okay! big smile

    ^ agree .

I'm in the same rut. I'm having a ton of leg problems that looks like it will need surgery,I'm really busy and sick, I just want to give it up. My legs hurt, I know I'm not making it too states and I want to quit so bad. But I'm doing it because I know I'll be really mad if I just quit/give up/surrender.
OH and I'm not liking the team either.

Finish this season with a pr' and decide if you want to do it again next year. It can only help your triathalon training.

I sort of feel the same way. Bad stuff has always happened to me almost every season including this one since I started track 4 years ago in 7th grade. I don't hate xc, but I'm definately sick and tired of stuff happening to me, I don't improve, get worse, suck etc. I'm going to finish xc, but will most likely not do winter track and spring track and instead run local road races and train by myself for a half marathon.

Negatory, speed is not necessary to a successful 5k. My teammate is a 15 minuter and his PR on multiple occasions in the 800 are 2:00 and 56 for the 400.

Ok, ok I let you have this one but I still think you need a good bit of speed to be able to run a 15 minute 5k.
