Because of my goddamn foot. So assuming this is just tendonitis and I only have to take these 2 weeks off, how much do you think this will affect my season? Is an 18:1x 5k out of the question now? (I'm pretty much ruling out sub-18 )

    Edit: Accidental smiley.

god damnit, everything you do will affect you season. Did you know that training actually affects your season too?

Seriously would it change anything if I said you would get faster from taking two weeks off?

This question did not call for a "yes" or "no" answer. Next time I ask "How much," please refrain from answering "Yes."

I never said Yes or No. I told you that this kind of thread is pointless and comes up almost three times a week. What kind of response are you looking for?

I haven't taken two weeks completely off since August '07. I don't know what two weeks off will do to me. I don't know how much worse my races will be. I don't know how fast I can return to training. I'm asking those with experience dealing with setbacks to tell me what kind of effect it will have. I thought this was perfectly clear throught the simple question "How much will this affect my season," but apparently not. Are you drunk posting again?

Trust me I wish. Two weeks won't make or break your season. You're obviously going to lose some fitness, but if it heals your tendonitis it's far more beneficial. Just look forward and don't kill yourself too bad when you start running again. I apologize for coming off rude, but we get these questions all the time and the same answer applies. We don't know what will happen to your body and we certainly have no clue what your times will be.

I took off one and a half weeks due to vacation over the summer (I did jog a couple times but nothing hard) and I came back trained 1 week then ran a 5k pr. So you may need the rest but if you have a injury stop now before it gets worse.
