    8 Miles Empty 8 Miles

Post by CT Track Sat Aug 30, 2008 11:27 am

So the time trial today was decent. I didn't get what I was looking for around the 50 minute mark, but I clocked in at 53:06. The first 2 miles I had horrible shin/front calf tightness. I think I clocked in at around 6:45 the first mile, 14:00 the second mile and 27:40 for the 4 mile turnaround. I'm pleased with my negative splits as I came in around 25:30 for the last 4 miles. I'm fairly pleased with the results seeing as I'm not a distance runner to any extent and looking forward to progressing more and definitely a lot more miles.

I know there's not a lot of 8 mile races out there, but if you got some times or splits lets hear em!

I did an 8 mile training run in 59:33 once; I desperately wanted to break an hour, so I was nearly sprinting for the last half of a mile haha.

I also did an 8 mile race once, but I hurt my knee at mile one and finished in an hour and twenty four minutes Sad
I was so sad because I had been looking forward to that race for a very long time.

The only race I did that was long was my 10 miler
    splits:
    1st mile- 6:00
    5th mile- 31:3x
    10th mile- 1:02:04

Thats all I remember. I never ran a 8 mile race sorry.

Yea ik it's rare haha. I'm not even sure why the time trial was 8 miles. I believe the coach just wanted to see who was running over the summer.

if this is going to be here, CT has to make a list.

btw, nice job on that 8 miler, especially for being more of an 800 guy.

If I continued the pace I ran for 7.62 miles yesterday to 8 I would've run 54:15 for 8 miles but you don't have to put that on your list.

All the other pages topics are filled with facepalm threads. When I am looking for a good discussion about running, I'll go to letsrun or dyestat. If I want to feel good about myself by absolutely pwning on people's PRs, then I come here.

Edit: They don't force beer down your throat at the end. Although who can resist a good serenac?
