Re: He's a Creeper!
we have some paved biking/running/walking trails that go through the marsh in our city. it's a really nice place to run right by the river. but i think like 2 years ago this college girl was out running by herself in the trails and a creeper man was hinding in the bushes and jumped out and stabbed her. she still lived though. so now a police patrol man rides his motorcycle through the trails frequently.
anyway, my story is:(this was like 2 monthes ago) i live somewhat out in the country on a highway and i was just walking to the start of my run(alone) when a guy pulled up next to me and was like 'hey do you need a ride?" [which i obviously didn't because i was clearly wearing running clothes] and then when i said no and started running in the other direction back to my house he was like "no come back, don't worry i'm safe i'm safe!!"
it was very scary. now whenever i go on runs alone, my dad rides is bike behind me

lol & aww thats really nice, my mom watches me run sometimes when I go down to our schools field to run because there is a river behind it and alot of people cut through there to fish, tube etc.. Its kinda weird because she just sits in the stands and watches me run and my guy friend wont let me run alone in xc ever since some guy in a truck kept harrassing me and stuff at a stoplight. So if someone whistles he flips them off.. I feel like I have body guards.. haha..

Re: He's a Creeper!
i run by myself a lot mainly because no one else on my team runs except for at mandatory practice. almost everytime i run by myself though i get honked at or whistled or something...i just ignore it. it always sends chills up my spine though and sure brings the mood of the run down. i love when someone honks though and their like my friend cuz thats always fun--but when its some psycho man then no. lol.

we had an "incident" happen a couple years ago when this guy who used to go to our high school started running with the team he was like 20 well anyways he did some pretty innapropriate stuff with the girls and now our guys team watches out for us all the time too.

Where do u get pepper spray its really scary sometimes in the city its the reason i hardly ever run mid day cuz summer school is out and those kids r crazy. On my run i have to pass through a kinda bad neighborhood where I almost got mugged one time. I miss the country

Don't you have to have a special permit or something to carry pepper spray on you? I think I read that somewhere, although it may have been in a fiction book.

Re: He's a Creeper!
my friend, my sister, and I were running by a lake and there was a group of maybe 10 junior and senior guys. Well they had a like this formation (kinda like a gang dance) and they surrounded us and starting poking us with their fishing poles. (hah. yeah your cool. ) so ah we just ran through them. hah :]

If it's illegal in your state you can get Citronella spray, which is essentially the same thing (but legal). Works on dogs too.

I've never had a problem with creepers before but we do have creepers in my town so when I run by myself I like to stay in town and not go out and run on the gravel roads.

Re: He's a Creeper!
one time i was running in the same neighborhoods we run in for practice, but i was alone this time, and i saw this red mini van slow down and drives really slow and this creepy man was staring at me...i thought it was weird but i continued on for about 200 meters until this car pulled up to me and this lady said, "are you okay, i just wanted to let you know that man in the red mini van was staring at you, and it made me uncomfortable." i replied "yea....uhh...im ok" but it freaked me out and of course i had just come to a huge long hill in the neighborhood so i ran very fast to the top....as i reached the top i turned around and saw this white car driving really slowly...and when it saw i had turned around it slowed down and stopped. i was so freaked i cut off the rest of the neighborhood by cutting through a few backyards to get to the main road. i have never ran back to where i started so fast or paranoid and i still had 2 1/2 miles to get there.

Yesturday on my run I tried to race a garbage truck that I saw about 800 meters ahead of me. I never caught it though because I live in the middle of no where so there isn't many houses that it stops at.

Re: He's a Creeper!
my mom always worries when i run at home. luckily there are enough houses that if someone slowed down i could like walk into the yard and up to the house to make it look like it was mine. i always carry my cellphone too. maybe i should get pepper spray? i guess if i have problems i will.

Re: He's a Creeper!
Kind of the same thing (also kind of not, but it made me angry), but some stupid guy was driving along through my neighborhood today while I was on my run and he started whistling and yelling at me. I went to cross in front of him so that I could get down into the woods and away (I was too far from my house and he was following me), and he sped up so he could knock me down.
I hope I dented his ****ing sports car. Jackass.

Yep, I got his license number (can they track it if it's a temp. from a dealership?), but I don't know if I'm going to bother--I don't want to provoke anything and at least he didn't run me over

what??? turn him in, he needs to learn not to do that. do you really want to put other female runners in danger?Kugar wrote:AudienceOfOne wrote:wow, that sucks. couldn't get a licence #?Kugar wrote:Kind of the same thing (also kind of not, but it made me angry), but some stupid guy was driving along through my neighborhood today while I was on my run and he started whistling and yelling at me.
