Hmm...I'll be the first to admit that I am, yes Hurdle-Gurl, is a Bando.
If you are in band does your school do marching band & put on half-time shows?
(...Sorry this could probably go in the music forum...)

*sg* wrote:Ha, band at our school is a joke! You people are lucky if you have good / ok band programs. ( to answer the question, yes, our marching band does half time shows and parades in the area)
But anyway, our band director was an idiot. He had absolutely no interest in band music... he was more into guitars and stuff like that... which would be fine, except that he was the band director, so he needed to have at least some interest. So basically all we ever talked about in band was either what we did over the weekend (coincidentally everyone who participated in these discussions had lame lives, haha... no, I'm serious.) or some random band that nobody had heard of and probably wasn't any good. ... and I could go more in depth about the reasons why he was bad... but you probably don't want to hear them because this is already really long.
So yeah. As a result, we sucked. I mean, we were so bad. Well, I shouldn't say we... I actually practiced quite frequently. Unfortunately, no one else did. So for those who actually wanted to take it seriously and be good, it was a horrible waste of time. So I quit. Which sucks, because I really did like playing... but I also didn't have enough time for my private lessons.
so, sorry about the rant! haha

but, anyway I liked like concert band just sitting and playing.
What do you play hurdle?

Oh I play the French Horn. F Horn in Marching Band.
We always joke around and call it my F-ing Horn. Last week we had Band Camp (lol) & I seriously felt like shooting someone or something (I'm really not violent) because it was freakin 90 degrees and we in the sun for about 4 hours straight...errg!
Our band director is pretty much amazing! We went from getting 4's @ festival with a different director to the his first year getting 1's and making it to the State competition.

Neither our band nor XC team gets anything...we have to raise it on our own.
Doesn't make sense as to why we spend so much money on Football & Basketball here for new uniforms every year when they suck & band & XC are pretty much amazing.

ha, I played french horn in band too!! Do you people march w/ your french horns, or do you have to use mellophones? we used mellophones, and they sucked. And I had to use one of the school's and it was disgusting. eeewwww.
*sg* wrote:Oh, just thought of this, another reason why I quit was that everyone (well, not everyone, but most) had serious personal hygiene issues. This would include the 2 other french horns who sat on either side of me, and the drummers who stood behind me, and the saxophones in front of me. I was surrounded!!!!! it was sooooo gross.
