    Bikes Empty Bikes

Post by Love For Running Wed Jul 30, 2008 10:53 pm

    Hey guys,
I'm planning on getting a bike for my birthday which is very soon so I went out looking today and heres the deal.
I want a bike for fun and for cross training that I can mainly ride on paved roads, but i also want to occasionally ride on mountain bike trails. The guy at the bike store said if i got a "hybrid" bike and used it to trail bike it would tear up the bike.
So i then thought about the option of getting a mountain bike and getting an extra set of road wheels. But i still want to be able to ride at a decent pace on the roads.
Do any of you guys have bikes and/or any idea what the best plan is?
Oh, and the trails I would be doing aren't too intense, and I'd do then probably once a month.
We were looking at the Giant Brand bike, any of you have one of these?
    Thanks

just get a road bike. you can get a decent one for 400-500. mountain biking is overrated.

I AM HERE TO RIDE BIKE.

But for serious, just get a mountain bike, the road performance is pretty much the same unless you want an 8,000 dollar road bike. Not to mention, I don't know why performance would be super important. Unless you are looking into getting VERY VERY competitive at biking, even a trashy bike is fine.
