is the guy clinically stupid or something. any one person can burnout. idk most famous people probably had good coaches to help with their training so they wouldnt burnout.

Girls are way more likely to burnout than guys.

But I guess Matt Withrow had a pretty epic burnout.

A lot of people say burnout is purely mental, too.

During Bill Bowerman's coaching tenure at Oregon, a two miler who was normally able to run in the 8:30 range burntout physically and was only able to do a 9:00 2 mile. His physical burning out acctually started the pre race resting.

there is such a thing as overstressing the body through overtraining(usually vo2 intervals, this is the most stressful type of training by far). but in the absence of overtraining I think what people call burnout is often just a person who has become disinterested in or frustrated with running. it can be a very mental thing.

    Matt Withrow?
He didn't suck right away, Freshman year he did pretty good, but yeah for sure a burnout.. at least so far. I know he had some type of injury last year or whatever, but don't know where he went after that.

Webb is kinda one depending on how you want to spin it..he's still fast but he's definitely not as epic now as he was in high school.

i don't think any of us can really think of burnouts because everyone forgets about them once they stop being good...just throwing that out there.

and fyi--if your still going to the olympics i wouldn't consider that a burnout but ehh idk i guess i can see how it could be.

Again, take a look at this topic:

    https://runnerstrail.forumakers.com/professional-running-f25/biggest-wastes-of-talent-t915.htm

They are remembered... in the "distance"... because usually they do have some pretty great achievements before they fade away.
