It is a bit early to be thinking about the draft date, but it should be as close to the beginning of the season as possible.

but not too close, because if something comes up it might not get done in time

Meh, draft boards make it so you don't *really* have to be there if scheduling conflicts come up.

I would rather we get all the information we can before the draft, and have 1 or 2 people not be able to make it, then try and draft essentialy blind.

ok, good point; there always seems to be those last second changes you have to make so the more info the better
