I'm ready for a ass kicking. Empty I'm ready for a ass kicking.

Post by Running With Scissors Fri Nov 07, 2008 10:24 pm

Bad thing is it will be my ass geting kick. I am doing a 5 mile race tomorrow off of 2 miles of running in the last 3 weeks. I know, I know, you probably think I shouldn't race but it is the last race of a 7 race racing series and I already ran 5 of those races (over the summer) and I am winning my age group and if I don't race I'll get second and not first. All I have to do is not let the guy in 2nd beat me by 7 places (age group places).

Here is where the ass kicking comes in. All these races are local races meaning easy to win my age group if not overall but for some reason (money) 15 elites are coming. Ok not that bad but did I mention 5 are from Ethiopia, 2 from Kenya, and 2 from Morocco. WTF ARE THEY DOING AT A SMALL LOCAL RACE! The winner only gets 500 dollars so if you are that good why don't you win so 50,000 dollar race some where not by me. They always come to this race so it isn't news but why do they come here? There's no point wasting your talent at this small race. The only logical reason is it is just a stop on there racing circuits they do for money and they bring in other good runners from around the reason, cause I mean who does want to test your self against the best.

I was planing on pacing off of the Ethiopia girls that come but my ankle injury and time off screw that up. I looked at the results from last year and most of the girls where in the 27's aside from the few really fast ones.

No real point to the post. Just felt like posting it. I think I am going to aim for a 33:00. If my ankle feels good I'll start running after this.

eh, I ran my best 1500m of grade 11 off 2 weeks break. You certainly haven't lost any fitness in your break. Just get a good solid warm up and giver, you'll probably surprise yourself. Unless of course your ankle bothers you, then take it easy.

But before the week of districts I didn't run for a week and a half though. So it is basically:
    Run 6 months
    Rest 1 1/2 weeks
    Run 1 week
    Rest 2 weeks
    Run 1 day
    Rest 1 week
    Race

I don't know how I'll feel, maybe I will surprise myself.

I ran 32 something but I found it fun to watch the African dudes for the short minute that they were within eye sight.

During the last 5 miler I ran, I ran a 28:12 and got 3rd in my age group and the winning time was 25 high and no one was near him. Today the winning time was 22 or something and he was followed by tons of other racers right behind him. I got 3rd in my age group today with 32 something. Just though that was odd.

that is really random that all those elites come to that race though, at my road races everyone pretty much recognizes everyone cause its always like the same 60 people for the winter ones. The other 2 huge ones are a different story, cause there are like over 1000 people.

The largest race in my county is 1200 people and it is next week. It is a turkey trot 5k thing. I don't know why it is so big, probably a big cash prise.

here in Colorado we have so many races it's incredible. On any given Saturday I could have my choice of 3-4 give or take different races within half an hour to fifteen minutes away. The biggest one I've been in had over 55,000 people

All of the races here seem to be in seattle or on the coast, the turkey trot (well the only one I know of) is an hour away =[

I've never done a road race, but I know the Sound to Narrows is pretty big. And a kid on my teams mom owns and shes like 38 something now.

The biggest race within an hour of here is the LA marathon. Our local turkey trot attracts 3,516 runners by last years count, and the races I run with SRLA (marathon training get at least 4500 people)

Yeah I must have really screwed it up. I think I might go to some ankle doctor but all they'll do is say something like "why didn't you come sooner" or "just stop running and ice it" or some thing else I already know.

You should really consider it. Great course takes you through Boulder, which is a really physically active town. (Considered most active large city in US) You run through downtown and then through some neighborhoods with slip and slides and like 50 bazillion bands the whole way. Then you finish at CU doing a lap around the football stadium. It's all super neat.
