    Dear Runnerstrail Empty Dear Runnerstrail

Post by ButterySmoothStride Mon Aug 18, 2008 10:54 am

    Dear runnerstrail,
During the school year, time management will be incredibly important for me. I spend an absurd amount of time posting on both runnerstrail and dyestat, which is okay during the summer when my schedule is fairly open, but will not be okay during the school year. For this reason, I have decided to quit posting on running forums cold-turkey. At the end of this coming academic year, I will return to posting and reveal if I have met my goals of 9:48 and 4:32.

    Sincerely,
    RB

edit: i want to leave with some shout outs

RWS - I am impressed with your site and your improvement this summer. don't ever let up and you will be
legit by track season of senior year. never stop clownstomping the competition.

miler - you are only a soph this year, and thanks to your commitment to putting in the miles you will also
be legit by senior year. i have lol'd at your posts many times.

FK - I believe you can get into Penn through hard work. your sister already got in, so by following her
example closely you should have a great shot at acceptance.

Limit yourself to 1 post a week but not cold turkey. Please.
I bet being on RW and RT has made you/me a better runner because
    1. It makes you think about running all the time.
    2. All the helpful hints (when trackaholic broke 10 minutes in the 3200 we must have had a record for the longest RW HS private topic)
    3. Me wantting to get to the top of our All RT 5k list.
    4. I haven't got any big injury since I started posting.

it's too addictive. that's like asking a smoker to smoke one cigarette a week, it doesn't work.

    Dear RT and RB,
I will be adapting a similar plan over the course of this school year. I will visit on weekends and vacations, but not a whole lot on school days. Basically I just won't have time to post in mindless threads.

it really depends on the culture at your school. the effort it takes to top your class varies depending on which school you go to.

We'll be cool if you stick with not coming on for the whole year, I don't respect people who make attention grabbing threads like this unless they stick with it.

Personally it only takes minutes to look through the forum and do my posting, but that's just me. School is more important, although I'll be posting during class a lot. I can't sit through Arguement and Research for an hour and a half and stay sane.
