THE Stick or A Foam Roller?
So I was planning to buy a foam roller to stretch out my muscles. Esp. the IT Bands. My physiotherapist recommended me to find something to use to help stretch and roll out my stiff muscles and tendons. So what should i get???? The Stick or just a regular foam roller???

Re: THE Stick or A Foam Roller?
I just got the stick, I like it but it seems to almost make my legs more sore in the morning...or maybe that was a fluke. I'll give it more time.

Re: THE Stick or A Foam Roller?
^^ bad idea. Do not use a frozen water bottle. My trainer has shown me the best rollers, and he has told me how the foam roller is not very effective. They are really (And I mean REALLY) expensive, but they work soooo nice!

I think the foam roller works fine. I just massage my own quads in the shower though. I guess I'm too cheap for any of that stuff

WOAH!!!
that thing better be able to suck my dick too.
my coach has one of thoes i didnt know he paid that much. Ill buy that only if it will make me a world class runner but since im only in HS its not that serious
The regular foam roller works fine for me a problem i can predict is that it will eventually get dents and get worn out.

Re: THE Stick or A Foam Roller?
i had mad IT problems my sophomore through junior year, and i would definitely recommend getting a foam roller. from what i have heard, the stick is more of a novelty, but a foam roller will really stretch out your IT band and loosen it up a lot more. trust me, it saved me and let me run again

I love the Stick!
My coahc keeps a few around his classroom and we always fight for them before xc practice.

Good choice, now you will have everyone around you wanting to use it.
haha.
oh, and a tip: don't bend it too far...they don't bend back.

Re: THE Stick or A Foam Roller?
I know both work. My trainer uses both but seems to use the foam roller when any of my teammates have any signs of injury, and uses the stick to prevent injury for anyone else. I have the stick, and it works well for me.
