So, as I have said before, I have a trainer who I see once a week. He is REALLY good and I believe the most professional trainer you can get in Delaware. I am his first runner though, but he has researched ALOT into running and seems to know what he is talking about. Anyway, I would see him one day a week and for 6 days a week I would make up my own running schedule. Well, I'm really new to running, and I thought I would do "base training", but I seem to do better when I am running short and faster, that's what I did all summer and I had a pretty sucessful first season of XC.
So, I feel like I'm getting slower, so he is now making up my running schedule. It is trial and error, but for this first week he has me doing 4 days of repeats (2 days of 1 mile x 3 and 2 days of 800 x 6) and 2 days of 4 mile runs and one rest day. I am going to see him 3 days a week now(to work out and such) so I will tell him how it is working out throughout the week.
Now, it may seem like a lot of speed work for the off season, but it is only for this one week, and if I feel like it is too much, then I'll tell him. What do you think? For just this one week I think it will be ok, and who knows, maybe I do better with quality rather than quantity. I would just like some other people's opinions, and feel free to say whatever. Oh, yeah, I'm also in this strength and conditiong class at school, but with going to workout with my trainer 3 days a week and running 6 days a week, do you think I should tell my teacher I can't workout too much?
