    safety

Post by xotrackkgirl on Fri Jan 02, 2009 3:45 pm

I'll admit it that I sometimes get scarred running alone.
I try bringing my phone but I don't know where to put it.

Do you have any tips on how i can get past this?

    don't worry.
    i'm afraid too.
sometimes if i'm going longer, or in a place that's a little more deserted than my normal runs i'll wear one of my running tops that has a little zipper pocket in the arm or on the back.
    it's a little unconfortable but...
otherwise, i just keep thinking that...maybe i''ll be able to out run them, or i'll scream really really really loud, or they'res people around...they'll save me...

haha, i only have this trouble during the offseason Neutral

    try carrying a knife.

    just kidding.

If you have pockets put it in their, otherwise maybe like a good clip that you can clip onto your waistband? or just run with it in your hand, but i don't like running with stuff in my hands so i wouldn't do it myself.

I bought a coat with a arm and breast pocket thats pretty small so it doesn't bounce around in the pocket. I'd advice getting something similar or a fanny pack Razz and maybe buying some pepper spray or something.

Run in the day, when the sun is out. Also run in heavily traveled areas like the sidewalk to a busy street or something.

I hate bringing my cellphone with me during a run and like xc running gal said I think I could out-run most people.

Just somethings I can think of and some that have been said:
    1. Run when the sun is out.
    2. Run in a place where there is always people.
    3. Buy on of those ultra-distance belts that carries stuff.
    4. Make sure your parents know where your running and about what time you'll be back.

You could try putting your cellphone in your sports bra. It sounds kind of awkward, but you don't notice it when you run.
The safest thing, though, is to just run where there are people.

I always get really paranoid when I run by myself (even if its in a safe area) and I end up making elaborate escape scenarios if I'm attacked.

Yeah. I don't, at least. It pretty much stays in place, although it looks sort of weird.

I don't want to sound cocky or anything, I'm just speaking the truth, but I really don't think anyone is going to fuck with me. No one wants to steal an 18 year old guy and rape him.

lol seriously. especially if hes all sweaty and gross.
the only reason i could think of someone trying to mess with me on one of my runs is if he wanted to rob me, which would be pointless cuz i dont bring anything on my runs, or if he kidnapped me, and held me ransom like in the movies lol.
