off season? longer or shorter? Empty off season? longer or shorter?

    So,
I have officially been off running for 14 days today for my offseason. At the beginning of my break I was suppossed to take 5 days off, however, I havent had time. I am on the swim and xc ski team and I have swam and skiied every day since I stopped running ( except last weekend I took two days off and only did core). I also competed at a swim meet last wednesday and had a ski time trial thursday. My question is... should I start running again tomorrow, or, should I do my xc ski race on tuesday, take 4-5 days completley off exercize and then start running again?

well, i guess it depends on the type of running you are going to be doing. you dont want to strain your body before track. If you want to go out and run just do light running and then maybe when you have a short break from meets and trials you can do a running workout. I really wouldnt worry about it if you had days with out running. especially since you are doing other sports. Besides, you dont want to kill yourself before track, you just want to keep your mileage up, and work on some speed work to prepare your body for the track season.

You've been active throughout your "break," personnally, I would take some days entirely off then get back into things. My coach told me to take 2 weeks entirely off...it got hard so I only took 1 1/2 weeks off. 5 Days should be good though, don't be afraid to take a little more though if you feel you need it. Then as soon as you're ready, get back running.

Don't be afraid of loseing your running ability. A few weeks off doesn't hurt and since your doing swimming that makes if even better.

with the skiing as well its not like your just sitting there getting fat it may even do you some good
if i was you i would try and do some fast quick runs just to keep my legs in, but i dont really have any scientific backing on whether that would help physicaly but it would mentaly
