    Recurring Hip Pain

Post by PCNQtrack on Sun Nov 23, 2008 12:32 am

Planned on a long run today. 4 miles in i was forced to walk for 100 ft. by a sharp pain in hip while running, hurts to apply pressure with fingers as well. This is something that has bothered me before. It always seems to go away after a day or two...anyone know what it might be?

Are you resting it? Or does it just go away?

I used to always get bad hip pains (it felt like a really bad bruise) on my right hip only, after fast/hard runs until I started doing hip stretches/strengthening exercises. you might wanna try those to get rid of it. i use the ones that they have on the RW injury and prevention section.

I don't know much about hip pain but last year for a week or two my hip flexer hurt but it went away on its own. It wasn't like a OMG this hurts pain but more of a annoying, doesn't really slow you down, pain.

Heres a link to a site with strengh training and stretches for your hip flexor http://www.myfit.ca/exercisedatabase/search.asp?muscle=Hip%20Flexor

You probably already do, but ice it. It won't solve anything but it may help.

    Your hips are weak.
Do some squats and such after the pain is gone.

definetly stretch a lot, i was put out my freshman track season bc i got burcitis (sp? lol) in my hip that was caused by lack of stretching and having flat feet (orthotics fixed that)
