Post by xotrackkgirl Tue Nov 11, 2008 6:15 pm

So, its been awhile since I posted. I'm pretty busy with soccer, basketball, irish dancing, and XC.

I sprained my ankle last Tues. playing basketball. I'm taking 1 1/2 weeks off.
I missed the mid-atlantic meet, but my team qualified so im actually still going to nationals!

My season ends in early Dec. so I'm planning to really kick it in these next few weeks.
I've never ran more than a 400, but I think I'm really catching on to XC and improving pretty fast. In fact, every meet I've dropped time.

So I gotta 2 questions: Will 1-2 weeks off affect me?
And can I be over doing it? Ex- Thursdays I have basketball, xc, gym, and dance

So... i miss talking to ya guys. If you wanna post your season update, go right ahead.

I got injured with 3 weeks left in the season because my coach told me to push through an injury. I've taken about 3 weeks off from running and have just recently resumed swimming and strenuous PT. Hopefully next week I can start running and training for tris again.

As far as next season goes, I am strongly considering not doing XC and only doing CX (cyclocross), or just doing both and focusing more on CX. I'm pumped for track and tri season and I wanna get started again.

    Same here a tad ^.

I found out I had compartment sydrome, my coach (for the last 3 years) told me to push through it, I just thought maybe it was shin splints. So Turns out running through it wasn't good, I ripped the muscle sheath stuff around my tibia because when I was running through it..the pressure just built up and tore it. But its kinda of a good thing because I gave myself my own fasciotomy (which they do to correct c.s) .

So I've been going to Physical therapy for a while, and since I started going I dropped 2 minutes in just one week of P.T. (too bad I started p.t when my season was almost over =[ ) But I'm so excited for next year and track because they think they may have fixed me =]
IF not I have to get surgury which takes a while to recover from.

Sparknotes: DONT run through pain, Went to p.t they fixed me (at least I think) I dropped alot of time, excited for next (my last) year.

season went pretty well, i guess i hoped to drop more time than only 15 seconds, but i feel i still did well, cause i know i trained really hard.

we missed going to states , we got 4th place, and top 3 teams go

    thats all pretty much.

My season was okay... I went from running a 26 at my first xc meet ever to running a 22:42 pr at the end of the season. four minutes is a lot, I know, but quite honestly I expected a lot more of myself.

My team did not do so well as a whole. We had a really good shot of qualifying for groups (that equates to state semi finals I guess) for the first time in five years and everyone on our team just had a really crappy day. We came in 9th out of 16 teams in a race that we should have been able to win. Neutral

My season is going great so far. The experience from xc has allowed me to increase my speed of 5 miles or less which is what most of the training runs for marathoning are. I dropped my 5k PR by 1 minute and 15ish seconds to 23:30 something. I will have an excellent base for the LA Marathon come May.

My former xc team was crushed and got 6 out of 6. They did out place Dana Hills HS (team expected to place 2nd in nxn) in one race.

Next sport for me is lacrosse and my dad who played lacrosse at University of Florida teach me the fundamentals, so hopefully I'll make the team. I'm also mountain biking with the mountain biking club and doing some swimming in preparation for a half ironman i signed up for with my aunt in late 2009.

I made the Dream Team for my local paper! I'm so excited!
They only take about 10-15 athletes in the area & I didn't think I was going to make it since my team is so good and they like to limit the # of athletes from each school. They took my team's top6 girls. =) I'm so excited! I get to have my picture in their along with stats, hero, & most memorable moment. I'm stoked!

    Congrats, Hurdle-Girl!!!

    I'm hurt too.

I don't know what I did but I royally &&$#ed up my ankle just before Regionals and (stupidly) ran right through it and now it won't bear weight at all. Probably going to see the trainer on Monday. Indoor is probably blown =[

Ok so this REALLY sucks now.
I just talked to my coach and he said there was a mistake with the Dream Team. My teammate & I made HONORABLE mention. Crying or Very sad I was so freakin excited about getting my picture in the paper too! Heck I even called my grandma and told her to be looking for me in the paper next week. For honorable mention you just get your name along the side...no picture, no stats, no hero section, and no memorable moment section. Sad
I was honorable mention last year...I guess I can be it again.
