So i have been on my rest for over a week, decided to officially start winter training today

I got about 200 yd. into my run and my knees were hurting to the point where it was just an annoyance but i stopped because it didn't make sense to screw my training over this early on

Is this just from not running for a week and my legs just need to get back into it or should I postpone my winter training?

totally normal, at least for me. I get it mildly even after taking more than a day off. Just start your base off really easliy, until they get used to running again

I agree. My quads are sore this week, even though I still ran 3 days last week and played hockey on two others.

When I went running two days ago my knees hurt too. I have never had a knee injury so I'm guessing its from the lack of running I have been doing or in the increase in biking.

Does anyone else feel a lot faster after their break? I know I got a lot faster in the season, but I kept all my easy runs very easy because I always needed to recover from the hard workouts. Now though I'm just doing easy runs and I let myself pick up the pace a bit, and now I'm just FLYING. My slowest run was a 10 miler at 7:20 pace (with 50 mph winds) and I've averaged 7:09/mile for the 50 miles I've done since my break ended.

Maybe we should all rethink the notion that you need to take time off after each season?

Even if you don't need a break phyiscally you probably need it mentally.
