I'm going to put this here too:

Question: Tomorrow we have a scrimmage. Last week we did a mile time trial and I came in 14th. 13th was 4:55, I was 5:05, 15th was 5:05, and 16th was 5:18. 15th won't be running because of an injury, so I'm in the middle of a fairly large gap. I was thinking I would just run with the 5:18 and out-kick him, but my friend said I should run my own race, even though I don't think it'd going to make a difference in where I place on the team. the course is 2.65 miles so I'm not even going to get a common time like I would if it was a 5k. What would you do? Go all out and run my own race or run easier with the next man down and out-kick him?

i would run my own race, there's no point in running someone else's TT.

Meet today but a very small race with 10 girls all together. I took first and just stayed behind 2 girls in front of me until the end. Bad time though.

Meet with almost all the teams in the county. Took it easy and got 17:15 and 3rd place. First was 17:02. Don't even tell me I didn't take it easy because I did.

my time trial failed. i cant run downhill fast or else i get a very upset stomach Sad the downhill was like 3.5k into the race, and at that point i was third, and then by the end of the hill (its 600m) i was 6th and thats how i finished lol.
o well, i have another time trial monday, hopefully i'll do better...i dont know why they are making us do so many time trials, since they dont cut anyone.

I'm getting really impatient waiting for meets to start, but I know that I'm still not in racing mode yet so my times would suck. but I want to race!!!! ahhhh!!!

Yes but now I'm under the radar because I didn't come in first like I could have. I want to be the underdog that wins counties not the favorite that every one guns for. Both my dad and my coach told me to do this.

its fuun. but we always get there late and have to rush everything.

I doubt I'll be making districts this year though, I might have to get surgery on my right ankle =/ angry scream .

So Right now I feel like there is really no point of even trying.

I'm the same way. I don't really enjoy the pressure and I don't try to peak early so I try to give a decent race, but I'll definitely give the all outs when it counts.

Yep, I have a meet in 2 weeks that tell us right there who will win the division and thats the race I will give it all. Then I'll do the same with states a little over a month later. I'll go hard for counties and districts but not balls to the wall.
