I Lost my Captain Position...

So tonight on the bus ride back form our xc meet, our coach told us to sit girl girl guy guy for seats. (No girl & guy in a seat) Well, we listened for about 15 minutes then we all just moved around to sit with our friends. Our coach came to the back and yelled at 12 of us for sitting girl guy in seats...yea it was a bad on our parts. As soon as we got back to the school he told us either we could leave and be off the team or stay and go on a 5 mile run. errg!
It was 9pm!!! We were so pissed off about it because one of the girls up front told on us...she hates me so it was one way of getting at me. When we finally get done with our 5mile pitch black run, my coach comes up to me & my teammate and tells us we are no longer captains...oh shit. I worked so freakin hard this summer and was the one calling my teammates up to go on runs, I ALWAYS help them out, I ALWAYS have us run as a team during warm-ups, I ALWAYS have us do team bonding activities. I'm the Captain!

It seems as though every time our team does something big, our coach does something retarded to cover it up. My girls team won our first ever Conference title in our school's history tonight. Too bad nobody cares now or even will know.

anyway's im sorry about that maybe your coach will realize he overreacted over nothing and will reinstate you as captain.

We have the same issue (guy-guy vice versa) because one time on the band bus....

hah some naughty things happened on the trip to disneyland.

I'm mainly offended because people were saying that inappropriate stuff was going on in the back...can someone tell me when sitting near people and talking became inappropriate?!

MANY parents showed up pissed off because as soon as one parent found out we were running in the dark, they called all the others adn went to the school to complain. It was a big mess.

He didn't re-assign captains yet, but one of the girls said that they heard that the girl who had told on us had turned in a letter to be captain while we were on the bus. UGH!

I'm just so ticked right now! I have all the people that tattled on us for sitting together in my classes today...along with my xc coach being my pshycology teacher...wow that'll be a joy.

i still dont get why your coach gets so pissy about how you guys sit lol. its so dumb.

So my coach came to me today and told me he rethought and I can have my postion back. He decided that one mistake can't defineme as a person so therefore it can't define me as a captain.
The other girl who too had lost her title was given it back...she decided though to resign because he just uses it against us anyway.
The part out of it all that gets me the most would be what people were saying was going on on the bus and the fact that he was believeing it. My coach & I are really close because I've known him & have been running with him since I was 8...basically I look at him as a dad. For him to think that I was lying and doing inappropriate things on the bus just kills me! errrg!
The girl that was saying things were happening has just gone WAY TOO FAR! She ALWAYS does things to me to make me look horrible but this is the worst...I can't take it anymore! I'm actually looking into transferring schools.

Sounds like your coach over-reacted. It probably wasn't personal, he probably just flipped at the idea of his team conducting themselves that way.

I'm glad he changed his mind though. =]

your co-captain is smart. don't give him any leverage over you. just be a leader, you don't need a label to do that.
