my team's idea of distance is 7.5km on a trail. Nobody stretches, and my "coach" doesn't want to try and push anyone because she is worried that they would quit. I have to go to practice to go to any of the meets but I have to end up doubling to get any sort of real mileage in. We haven't done speedwork more then once and we're two weeks into the season. I wish I could just run on my own and show up to meets but we have some rule that you have to show up to a certain number of practices (which is a lot of them) when my energy could be better served putting a real workout down.
