    Moon Landing

Post by iWearNikes on Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:59 pm

The other day at practice we had this super long disscussion about whether or not we've been to the moon, and if so, how many times.

There's people who say it was all staged because you can't see any stars in the photos, the shaddows are going in different directions (hinting at multiple light sources), the footprints photo graphed are perfect (which is "impossible" w/o water in the dirt), and the flag is waving even though there is no wind in space.

Personally I think it is all real, and the people trying to disprove their country need to shut up, but that's just me.

    What do you guys think?

we kinda had a discussion in my english class, mainly so we could get him off topic and then we wouldn't have to do work. but i think it's all real even if there is a flag waving, etc. at least i hope it is.

There are a few things which make it nearly impossible to have it shot on earth. When dust particles are puffed up by the astronauts, they go higher than any dust particles on earth could possibly, even in a vacuum. And it's kind of silly, the US and China (and ESA... if my career path goes according to plan, I might be one of them Very Happy) are sending astronauts back to the moon. Maybe one of the missions might be to recover the bases which the lunar landers left behind? Then it will be pretty impossible to disprove.

ESA (European Space Agency, I'm going to work there on my British passport) needs to create a manned space program first. But they have all ready announced it, and are developing it at the moment. Should be in full swing by the time I'm 30, hopefully!

iWearNike: The thing with stars not being visible is just because of high contrast. Nat Geo did a special on whether the moon landing was a hoax, and it tried to photograph the extreme contrast between a city and the sky at night, and no lights in the sky were visible. Mind you this is a top of the line HD video-camera they were using. It all has to do with contrast, and seeing as the whiteness of the moon against the blackness of the sky is a case study in contrast, the astronauts would not have been able to get a shot of the stars.

If we had never gone to the moon how come the mirrors they put down on the moon to test the distance away from the earth it is with a laser it was not a probe.
Of course it is real sorry to brush something away so easily, but it was not faked.

We had this discussion in one of my classes earlier this year. I think it was science tech. But I think they did go to the moon.

What if we didn't go to the moon in '69 but finally did it with the last Apollo mission and that's why they stopped it? Just a thought, I'm not saying I believe that.

They said they couldn't 100% for sure say we either went or didn't go, just that the people who are saying that it HAD to be faked because the flag was waving, because the footprints were too crisp, because the lighting wasn't possible, etc aren't true and that they COULD have happened on the moon...But pretty much it proves that conspiracy theorists are just weirdos with too much time on their hands =/

Yes, we went to the moon that first time.
