There really aren't any universal standards. You need to email coaches on an individual basis. Be sure to
tell them your times and that you're really enthusiastic about wanting to run for them. Grades and
test scores are helpful, as is extra info like coming from a really weak program or never doing more than 30 mpw.

All I know you have to be really fast to get a scholarships at all. My brother isn't like amazingly fast, but he runs a low 49 400 and for WSU they told him he probably shouldn't even bother walking on =/

You just have to talk to the coaches.

low 49 isn't amazing. still good, but there's a lot of people that can do that. get into the 48s and they might have taken him.

It's rare to see a full/half scholarship just for running. There are kids who recieve anywhere from 1000 to 6000 a year and they're not amazing, but they were recruited to come here. It depends on the program really. D1 will usually give you more money because there are schools who aren't that strong, but they need strong runners since they're in D1. There are some D2 schools who aren't as competitive that just don't care, but will still give you money if you are an asset to the team. Some people who recieve money here wouldn't even be able to walk on to a school like FSU or Arkansas.

Like someone already said, there are way different times for different programs. And don't just take a 1000 scholarship to a shitty d1/d2 school if you are serious about running. There are a lot of really bad d1 schools out there. You would be better off finding a good d3 program.

Personally I don't care about scholarships. I went to the school that offered the most opportunity and the most money regardless of if it was for running or not. Some schools may give you more money for running, but some might give you more net income for academics. Academics is where the real money is and athletic are there just to make sure they can keep you on the team.

I know..I said it wasnt. But they told him to not even bother walking on, like try. Which is kinda lame. He had a better 200 time, I cant remember what it was, anything below a 400 is a big blur..haha

For girls its different, they usually go easier on girls with scholarships etc..

I believe i posted a time standard from Western (a university in Ontario) awhile back but i'm too lazy to find it.

It went something like this: (men)
    Sub9 for 3000
    3:20 pace for 6-8km (XC)
    3:25 pace for 10km

if you break 11 in the 3200(10:17 3k) or 5 in the 1600(4:39 1500) you should find some schools offering money...maybe not oregon or stanford, but still good schools. 5:20 or 11:30 will get you a spot on most teams but not a ton of money. but these aren't absolute rules, and you've got nothing to lose by contacting any coach.

another thing to consider is thatschools won't be as willing to take you in comparison to an american. you might need to run faster than expected to get offers.

but ya, you're 14, don't sweat it yet.
