It would be great to see him win 2 golds, but I have my doubts... not to say that it isn't possible, but there are some very strong people in both races who I can definitely see beating him...
And I just dislike ignorant comments like "lagat will win", without saying anything to back it up or whatever. Makes you look like you don't really know anything about it and just "going with something you randomly heard."
i think in the 1500 he's a shoo-in for gold. i mean, there isn't a crapload of big names in there besides him.
the 5000 will be harder, but i think he can pull it out.
What are you talking about?? There are some very fast guys in the 1500... I could name at least 2-3 that I think can really challenge Lagat, or possibly even beat him (you never know). Of course there are big names....

Well the Olympic's shouldn't let him run anyway I think. He got his citzenship in 4 months when it takes average Americans like 7 years to get it. My dad got it in 5 years. Send him back to Kenya and make him wait like other people have to. I hope he loses to prove that cheaters never win.

Shut the **** up.
You make some of the stupidest posts on here. Lagat has been training here for years, he went to college here, etc. He is proud to be an American and is probably more "American" than you and I. He shows a lot of class and is a great guy. I hate ignorant comments like these where people like you obviously have no idea what they're talking about.
edit: lol at the post above me.

Umm.. Ramzi is looking good right now, a very serious medal contender (DEAR GOD I HOPE HE DOESN'T WIN). Kiprop, Korir and some others are also looking pretty good. True, Lagat is a favorite but he'll have some serious competition and it won't be an easy medal (like all events). I'd like him to win, but I'm just stating the facts.

lagat is definetly the biggest name there, i doubt anyone's gonna go for the underdog win.

Re: Lagat takes third
Every non-native Bahrain runner does PEDs.
Ramzi is one of the biggest PED fiends to have not yet been caught. He doesn't race often, and he came out of nowhere with huge PRs.

Re: Lagat takes third
Ramzi has never been proven to use PEDs.. but he's a shady character.. very shady..
And unfortunately, he does have a legit shot at beating Lagat (as well as the other people I've named).

again, i must be way un informed. what are PED's? and if he's not proven to have used them, why do you think he does.Wow wrote:Ramzi has never been proven to use PEDs.. but he's a shady character.. very shady..

Performance enhancing drugs..
There are a lot of reasons why, it basically just comes down to him being such a shady character.. just pulling out massive PRs, racing infrequently etc. You know, Marion Jones never failed a drug test either...
Who knows, I don't want him to win just based on what's happened in the past (long story but tons of reasons there), but we'll see.
